Sometime I don't why the scan succeed when I push the right button on the scanner. It's the case with my 4470c and one can find confirmation on ViewScan' s site. I uninstalled it and finally I managed to restore my system to two days before and got back my computer. Weirdly if you hit the button on the front of the scanner it uses the Twain driver to scan the image. Why should we users throw something away just because of a piece of lousy software, if the Hardware still works fine? And do the device driver update via Device manager. Or go to India or China for cheap developers. The other software from the install disk for the 4600 may have to be changed also, but for now this is all i need! And i will not be buying a new one, 10 years ago i was scanning into my computer my pics - but nowadays with digital pics.
I have Win 7 home premium 64 bit and it worked great. It' s the same story every where else : Canon , Lexmark , Epson. Paperport 14 won't work though. Hewlett Packard Scanjet 3400c K6272. Piss poor and headache inducing. After reinstalled of the driver the scanner was running perfect. The won't even write new drivers and sell them! I have a scanjet 3970 which is perfectly fine - I purchased it to scan some of my old slides. Click Select tab and then close the box dialog. Instead of IrfanView, I used the software VueScan and everything works fine.
Now it will import perfectly using Paperport's Scan button. Would I like a free toolbar? I'm currently running both 12. After it working perfectly the first time, I was never able to use it again without errors and the scanner hardware crashing. Shut down, reboot, unknown device again. It explains another method for installing this scanner. So I decided to reinstall the driver still in W7.
Hope this helps some of you! I told the person on the phone that they had lost a customer. Therefore, I was facing the same problem, but now even more complicated than in the past. That's plain lazy and stupid. They are no longer capable of the simplist things. It can't claim to be a full fledged application when it comes to scanning documents, but I promise it is capabl enough for most of your works. I also have a G 4050 scanjet that worked fine for several months.
But I highly recommend it to anyone else if IrfanView doesn't work. So my english is poor I'm french but my scanner is running. The computer should be able to recognize and install the driver. It is pretty basic, but at least I can still scan. These driver s may not work with your computer. It may be inconvenient switching between operating systems, but that's a sacrifice you have to make if you want to continue using your current hardware.
Otherwise , you need to buy a replacement W7 compatible device. The Windows compatibility settings are no help. Anonymous I am under w7 32-bit and my scanner is a scanjet 4470c. I have a scanner and printer that are no longer listed. People want new features and functions but then they bitch about change.
Now I need the scanner and I don't know how to install the basic features without all the blotware-imaging-zone crap. There are advantages and I really usually encourage people to have genuine license…. If you buy a Super car and then the engine stops working, you will not be happy if the maker gives you a 1000cc engine to use on it and tells you , look you cars works. Just want to make money selling new products when old ones are still working perfectly. Why then isn't it written on the cover, like hey people, get rid of that old crap because we don't want to support you with new new software? I can't believe a multi-billion dollar corporation would do this to customers. It was fun, and a good piece of hardware - why no software support is beyond me. Otherwise, thank you for giving me a place to start.
